PAWA Demands Justice for Detained Ugandan Author: Kakwenza Rukirabashaija

PAWA DEMANDS JUSTICE FOR DETAINED UGANDAN AUTHOR: KAKWENZA RUKIRABASHAIJA

The Pan African Writers Association (PAWA) has demanded that the Ugandan authorities allow the detained Novelist, Kakwenza Rukirabashaija unfettered access to his Lawyers and due Judiciary prosecution.

Rukirabashaija who was recently named the 2021 PEN Pinter Prize International Writer Of Courage Award Winner has been held without formal court charges since his arrest on 28 December 2021.

This will be the third time  since 2020 that the  Ugandan author who is believed to have been arrested because of his criticism of the Ugandan government Leadership would be arrested.

PAWA believes that the continued detention of the Novelist without trial  is a gross violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and demands an end to the travesty of Justice and Human Rights.

Dr Wale Okediran

Secretary General, PAWA
